Gas Pipelines
ASTELEC have extensive experience in building the communications infrastructure for gas pipelines in conjunction with the prime contractors and the customer i.e., Origin After consulting during the design stages, we were able to save the customer paying exuberant construction costs by heavily reducing the amount of labour and pits required, especially in remote areas.
These projects were based in PNG, Malaysia, North QLD and VIC and consisted of thousands of kilometres of fibre cable being pneumatically placed into a direct buried class 12 subduct. Using this methodology, we were not only able to save construction costs but also protect the cable further by “blowing” the cable; this uses a zero-tension installation method.
The cable metres installed per day ranged between 3500m – 7000m, averaging to approx. 5000m per day. Pit placement also extended out to 1500m further reducing costs
